The Top 5 Blogs From June 2013It’s been a busy blogging month here at AVG and there’s never a dull moment in our office.

We have a team here who regularly contribute to our blogs and we’re always on the lookout for scams, spam and interesting news related to your computers and life online!

As you’re no doubt aware, we have active communities on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ and our community loves our updates to help keep them safe online.

If you haven’t stopped by our communities, drop in! The virtual fire is on and you can warm your toes whilst sipping a hot chocolate and chatting with like minded people! ;)

Just in case you’ve missed our blogs this month, we thought we’d give you a look at the Top 5 blog posts for June!

1) Are you getting missed calls to your mobile from a number you don’t know? It could be a scam!

A lot of people have found recently that missed calls on their mobile may be related to scams that redirect your call to a premium phone service (without your knowledge or consent) and these charges may show up on your next phone bill.

2) 5 Facebook scams that you need to know about!

With most people having a Facebook account these days, it’s inevitable that there are going to be scams that everyone needs to be aware up. We give you the heads up on how to remain vigilant!

3) So you fell for a Facebook scam…Here’s what to do next

Following on from number 2 (just in case you were super curious and clicked on one of those scam links!), our team provide you with detailed instructions on what you can do if your account has become compromised, you’ve installed a dodgy app or you’ve clicked on a malicious link.

4) How to prevent your children from being ‘groomed’ on Facebook

There are a lot of unsavoury characters that lurk around the internet and it’s worth discussing with your children that not only does ‘stranger danger’ exist outside, it can also exist in the virtual online world.

5) Don’t pay through the nose for software support

If you’ve ever looked online for software support for a particular product, you can sometimes end up contacting the wrong organisation for support. We take a look at how to get the best results when searching online for support.

We also really like to hear from our community, particularly if they’ve come across a scam email or something that they’ve seen online that they think is bogus.

You can email us at: community@avg.com.au if you’ve received any suspected scam emails and who knows, your scam may even make it onto our next blog!
